What do you do? I buy connectors and spools of cable in bulk and build any length or configuration that I or anyone else needs. Then I make labels and permanently attach them to the cable with heat shrink. This serves two purposes.
1: It identifies who the cable belongs to.
2: For rack building and other patching purposes it can remind you where to plug the darn thing in!
What type of cables do you build? I can build pretty much any audio cable. However most of my sales are XLR cables and instrument cables. However I also build adapter cables. So for example if you need an RCA to ¼”, or ¼” TRS to XLR etc... no problem. Just let me know whatever you need and chances are it wont be a problem. What type of connectors do you use? You have a few options here. For XLR I can use either the Neutrik NC3FX and NC3MX, or a generic connector that looks almost identical and in my experience is just as durable. If you request Neutrik connectors, an additional $3 is added to the price of each cable. I have tried out a lot of different connectors and the generic ones are a great connector and allow to keep the costs down. For ¼” TS and TRS connectors, I use Rean (a Neutrik brand) NYS224BG and NYS228BG respectively. RCA connectors are Rean NYS373. Why shouldn’t I just go to Guitar Center and buy my cables? Well you certainly can. However I stopped doing that as soon as I learned to build my own. The markup on things like cables and accessories is quite high (don’t even get me started on Monster cables). So buying from me is cheaper for the same quality cable, and you get a custom permanent label. How long does it take for you to build the cables after I order them? This depends on my schedule, my current inventory, and how much you order. I can often have the cables built and ready on the same day the order is placed. Usually its ready within a day or two. If I happen to be out of stock of cable or connectors, it can take up to a week for me to receive the supplies and build the cables. Do your cables come with a guarantee? Sure, as much as any cable manufacturer can guarantee a cable. Of course all my cables are tested before they go out. And, if for whatever reason you do have an issue with a cable you bought from me, I will fix it free of charge. I’ve yet to be taken up on the offer though and I use my cables myself so I know they are holdin’ up just fine. Sounds good! How do I place an order/receive the cables?
